2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Brinkman assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the departure of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming early showing last autumn.
Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer informed employees about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that playtesting had shown the necessity for a more defined direction.
The president expressed that the team is now refining Project Ethos with a revised approach, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.
The news follows a similar action taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to assist with the BioShock development group.
Below is the full content from Ismailer's communication:
Hello Everyone—

You all are some of the most motivated and creative designers we have had the pleasure to work with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to endure.”
Through your commitment and versatility, particularly over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The gamer responses from last fall’s the game playtest was enlightening. It validated the potential of a action-packed game but told us we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the requirement for a more distinct identity.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You embraced the input to consideration and reimagined Project ETHOS with a revitalized direction - one that’s poised to achieve its promise to our players.
The trust in this project increases every day. To boost the incredible development you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the latest Studio Head of the team. Following several months of discussions, Ben starts with us on Monday, October 20.
His management and expertise in the PVP shooter space is considerable, having dedicated the last 15 years developing and leading some of the most recognizable franchises in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, Apex Legends.
I invite you all in greeting him next week. We are all excited to persist seeing the development of the game in the time to ahead.
